Summary of Regaining Lost Ground

A flashback is shown to Nico's effortless victory against Language thanks to his ability. Language herself expresses shock that a Negator other than Juiz had defeated her. This causes Nico to question her how she knew Juiz, but Language refuses to answer, disappearing after a veiled threat to see each other again after they exchange their names with each other. In the present, Language explains she never forgot her defeat against Nico for the past 4,6 billion years, and wants a rematch against him and his Unforgettable. However, "Lan" realizes Nico has yet to awaken his ability in this loop, with Nico himself remembering his first meeting with Fuuko and her instance on not telling him anything about his tragedy. This infuriates Lan, as she wants her rematch and states Nico will gain Unforgettable, here and now. Meanwhile, as Fuuko and the others rush back to the Union base, Fuuko realizes their inability to speak is due to Language, and knows that Lan is targeting the person who defeated her in the last loop, Nico, and that Ichico will be killed to ensure Unforgettable's awakening. As she says this, Lan realizes Nico's affection for Ichico and shoots her through the heart, with Ichico only surviving thanks to astral projection. As Nico rushes Ichico's body to cyro to save her, Lan asks Ichico why she won't die for Lan and Nico's sake, stating that her ability is useless, and Nico will become powerful enough to fight her. Ichico refuses Lan's "request", stating Fuuko's mission in ensuring the Negators' happiness. As such, knowing that Nico's ability will make him miserable, Ichico states she won't let it manifest and will live, and with Nico, defeat the Master Rule. Lan decides to grant Ichico's "wish" by having Apocalypse telepathically ask Fuuko to give them seats and allow them to fight her, lest she expand the range of her "Language Absorption" and cause societal collapse. Fuuko is then forced to transfer the 12th and 13th seats to the scientists, thus officially starting the Language Neutralization Quest.
