Fuuko states Shen will be the one to defeat Feng, and that through this tournament, he'll become the strongest around, even more than Feng currently is. This intrigues Feng, who lets them off, all to Shen's confusion. As the Union walks back to their room, Shen incredulously asks why she did all of that for him, and claiming that he's weaker than Feng. Fuuko responds that she does, and goes on to explain the nature of the world to both him and his sister Mei. However, as Nico reveals, neither believe her. As Fuuko has a "time-out" and huddles with the rest of the Union on what to do, Shen apologizes to Mei for making her worry, but states he plans on fighting and killing Feng, even at the cost of his life. Mei than reveals that reward to winning Tenraisai is medicine, which has Fuuko question Shen if the martial artist has met Mui. While he claims not have, his nervous sweating tells a different story. While Fuuko opts not to pry further, she still asks Shen to work with her and the Union to become stronger. Shen ultimately agrees, but not because he believes her mention of Mui; rather, her strength and the way she synced her move with him in the previous chapter that he agrees. After the two shake hands, a sign suddenly falls on him while the new tournament brackets has Shen forced up against all the participating Union members one after another, with Fuuko being last, much to Shen's rage over the blatant favoritism at play by Feng. As Shen vows to get even with his nemesis/master, Fuuko ominously imbues Shen with Unluck, for the purpose of reeling in Shen's Negator ability Untruth. As the fight with Void goes underway, Shen realizes what Fuuko meant by becoming the strongest as he takes the full brunt of Unavoidable.
