A flashback has Mei explain to Fuuko how Shen suddenly became interested in entering Tenraisai one day to fight their master and father figure Feng, even though her brother would loose in a fight. Mei then explains that the two were abandoned by their parents and taken in by Feng, not out of love, but because of the promise Feng made to Fuuko 26 years ago in Russia. She then tearfully begs Fuuko to defeat Feng and save Shen. Back in the present day, the defeated members of Fuuko's block suddenly pull out blades, only to be stopped by Feng. As they clash, Feng angrily complains about how he was unable to fight to kill thanks to the vow he made with Fuuko, and that he was forced to raise Shen and an infant Mei all by himself. He then states he has no intentions of waiting for the tournament's finale, but as the two prepare to exchange blows once more, Shen appears and stops the two of them. This does little to deter Feng, as he prepares to use the same attack that killed Shen in the last loop on them. However, with hers and the Union's help, the attack is stopped. Recognizing this, Feng then opts to go back to the original plans of a tournament so he can defeat her at her strongest, but Fuuko states it's Shen who he needs to defeat, and vows that by the time of Tenraisai's finale, Shen will be strong enough to defeat him.
